On Wednesday, November 29th 2023, the Mount Sinai Health System’s Department of Psychiatry Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Steering Committee will host Brianna Suslovic, LSW, MSW, for the lecture series, Just Talks: Equity and Social Justice in Mental Health. The 2023-2024 Just Talks theme centers on the interplay between psychiatry, mental health, and social determinants of health. Registration is required - details can be found below. Talk title: Collaborative Practice with Clients Impacted by Carceral Systems
Speaker: Brianna Suslovic is a forensic social worker, social welfare policy analyst, organizational consultant, and educator studying jail-to-community transitions and works to bridge community mental health, criminal-legal systems, health policy and psychoanalytic theory. Ms. Suslovic teaches and engages in research scholarship at the University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice and serves as a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Research Scholar, a Mansueto Institute Urban Doctoral Fellow, and a Pozen Center Mass Incarceration Working Group Fellow. Ms. Suslovic has years of direct service working in and around New York City’s and Chicago’s criminal-legal systems and provided social justice consultation to organizations.
