News Date: Monday, April 19, 2021 - 08:30

The International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR; www.icuddr.com) is supported by the U.S. Department of State.  Their mission is to develop a global network of universities that are providing addiction studies programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional/certificate level, and to promote the development of quality academic programs to train scientists and practitioners. They would like to invite Division 50 members to join the ICUDDR (there is no charge for membership), if interested.

Please see below information on ICUDDR:

International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR) supports the rapid improvement in competencies and skills among current and future generations of addiction professionals, to meet the increasing demand for prevention, treatment and public health services. Toward this end, the ICUDDR facilitates networking among universities to promote high quality education and training in the field of addiction prevention, treatment and public health interventions. It also pursues related applied addictions research, outreach and advocacy.

ICUDDR's members are Universities from around the world.  We currently have over 250 member institutions who avail themselves of the benefits of membership including expert webinars, consultation and training, networking with esteemed academic centers, research opportunities, and more!

ICUDDR Coordinating centers provide regional representation and a local face for ICUDDR. They are responsible for facilitating regional activities such as conferences, learning collaboratives and webinars. In addition, regional coordinating centers can facilitate access to the Universal Treatment and Universal Prevention Curricula for Drug Demand Reduction and provide linkages for regional members who are seeking research partners or consultation for development of drug demand reduction education programming. Coordinating centers are active in North America, Europe, the Asian-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

ICUDDR also hosts an annual conference which brings together experts in addiction science to learn from one another, network, and create partnerships.  More information about the 2021 conference can be found at https://icuddr.org/conferences/2021-conference.aspx.  This year's event will be held online July 20-21st.  The conference is open to members and non-members alike.
