2018 Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction Meeting

Contextual Influences on the Etiology and Treatment of Addiction

March 15 - 17 2018

Le Méridien Tampa, Florida

The 2018 Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction Meeting will feature two keynote talks from Drs. Mary Larimer and Thomas Brandon, three pre-conference workshops, symposium sessions, integrated clinical training,  poster presentations, and numerous opportunities for networking during breaks, social hours, and meals.  The theme for the meeting recognizes that although a variety of relatively stable personality and biological risk factors influence substance use, contextual variables such as the availability of alternatives, stressful life events, and physical and social setting also influence the development, progression, and remission of addictive behaviors. These variables can also be harnessed to enhance prevention and treatment efforts. The sessions at CPA 2018 will consider the contextual influences on the etiology and treatment of addiction, as well as introduce exciting new addiction research and clinical practice innovations in the treatment of addiction. Earn up to 17 continuing education credits!

Symposia (75 minutes), Clinical Mini-Courses (up to 2 hours), and Poster Sessions for CPA 2018 may include (but are not limited to):

  • New approaches to addiction science–from basic laboratory research to epidemiology and policy--that may help us to better understand the etiology and nature of substance-related risk
  • New approaches for assessing substance use and contextual factors that might shed light on substance-related risks
  • Novel interventions and treatments that address contextual factors or existing interventions/ treatments that have been adapted to alter or enhance environmental or contextual influences
  • New approaches to adopting, disseminating, and enhancing evidence-based practices to reach larger segments of the population and to address disparities

*** Priority will be given to symposia submissions that include presenters across varied career levels, those that involve presenters from different institutions, and translational proposals.  We intend for the Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction meeting to provide a forum for the presentation of novel findings and new ideas for collaboration from research-to-practice-to-policy.

***The Submissions Portal for the 2018 Meeting is now closed.***
