News Date: Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - 13:45

The University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks to hire a Director of the newly forming University-wide Institute for the Achievement of Social and Health Equity. The position, effective by the end of May 2022, is open rank with a strong preference for a senior investigator with a proven track-record as a health equity or health disparities scholar and leader of successful interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations. This New York State supported position provides a 12-month appointment and a significant start-up package to advance a research program toward extramural research funding.

The successful candidate will have significant experience leading research that addresses minority health inequality, minority health, or social equity, which could include a focus on the physical/built environment, the sociocultural environment, biological and behavioral health, the social determinants of health, and epigenetics, along with other related areas.

The University at Albany has a long tradition of excellence in health disparities research and training as demonstrated by the federally supported Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities (CEMHD).  Most recently, the University at Albany established a minority health disparities research and collaboration network to accelerate and advance new research and discovery recognizing the nationwide critical importance of the public health challenge of minority health disparities – particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
