Psychologist Position Opening at Mass General Hospital's Outpatient Addiction Treatment Program in Boston, MA

There is an opening for a 20 hour (0.5 FTE) a week outpatient position for a PhD level Clinical Psychologist with experience and expertise in treatment of patients with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders in young adults and adolescents.  The position requires expertise in assessment, brief/motivational intervention, group and individual psychotherapy utilizing evidence based practices, such as CBT and/or DBT, consultation, and treatment planning for patients with psychoactive substance abuse disorders with or without co-occurring disorders, and their families.  This therapist will also consult with medical staff around management of the substance dependent patient in various clinic services. 

This position is part time (20 hours) and is located on the main campus of Massachusetts General Hospital.  This position reports to the Clinical Director. 

Requirements:

• PhD, PsyD, or EDD in psychology
• 2 years of experience in assessment and evidence-based treatments of substance use disorders
• 2 years of experience in clinical supervisioin
• Licensed to practice in Massachusetts
• Evening hours and Fridays needed.

Job Tasks:

Screening and Assessment

1. Identify patient needs, including stage of change and readiness, in an expanding outpatient clinic serving clients with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders
2. Conduct SA and MH assessment and diagnosis, including SA and psychiatric treatment history, evidence of active withdrawal symptoms, current use assessments
3. Identify high risk psychosocial patient/family factors that impact treatment and discharge planning

Treatment Planning and Consultation

1. Identify optimum level of care
2. Develop treatment plan consistent with patient need and readiness
3. Identify family risk/preventive factors and structure treatment accordingly whenever possible/appropriate
4. Maintain strong, positive relationships with Primary Care Physician and other medical staff to assure the highest quality of care to patients
5. Participate in medical team meetings, rounds, and case conferences to provide education and consultation to improve patient care
6. Work with family systems when appropriate and possible to involve family in recovery process
7. Ensure accurate documentation, conforming with all state and federal regulations
