Expanded Mentoring Program for RSA Meeting Attendees

News Date: Tuesday, February 23, 2021 - 09:00

The RSA Education Committee and Mentoring Subcommittee is pleased to announce an expanded mentoring program for those planning to attend the meeting. It is ok to move forward with serving as a mentor and/or mentee before you have registered for the meeting.

The program has been expanded in 4 main ways:

  1. Longer time period for mentoring pre-meeting (up to 3 months)
  2. Expansion of who is eligible for mentoring (undergraduates through junior faculty and all levels in between) though preference will be given students, especially from underrepresented/disadvantaged backgrounds and first-time meeting attendees.
  3. Expanded criteria upon which we will match including research interests/background, type of institution and aspects of lived experience.
  4. Those at the graduate student through junior faculty levels may apply BOTH to serve as mentors and to receive mentorship. Those who would like to apply for both should complete both surveys below.

Below please find surveys to complete if you would like to serve as a mentor and/or request mentorship. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mentoring Subcommittee Chair, Dr. Robert Leeman (Robert.leeman@ufl.edu, 352-294-1808).

*** We will begin matching mentors and mentees on Monday, March 8th. After that date, we will continue to match on a rolling basis right up until the beginning of the meeting, but applying by the 8th increases the chances of a match ***
